ARTISTIC DIRECTION
Keone and Mari Madrid are the directors, choreographers, and lead dancers of Beyond Babel. They are world-renowned dancers and award-winning choreographers, storytellers, global instructors and, most importantly, husband and wife. Notably, they’ve worked with BTS, Billie Eilish, Ed Sheeran, “The Ellen Show,” “So You Think You Can Dance,” “Dancing with the Stars,” “World of Dance,” Flying Lotus & Kendrick Lamar, Nike, Timbaland, Beats By Dre, Nordstrom, Hyundai, Cirque du Soleil’s One Night for One Drop, SKY: A 3D Musical, several K-Pop artists, multiple champions at major dance competitions, and more. They have received nominations for best choreography at the MTV Video Music Awards and the UK Video Music Awards, and have amassed over 2 billion views on Youtube. Most recently, Keone and Mari published Ruth, the first-ever book/multi-media experience combining dance, writing, illustration, music and video, which debuted at #8 on iBooks and Google Play.
HIDEAWAY CIRCUS
CREATIVE DIRECTION
Josh Aviner and Lyndsay Magid Aviner are the directors and lead producers of Beyond Babel. Their partnership goes beyond the bonds of husband and wife, in 2015 they founded the Brooklyn-based theatrical and media producing company Hideaway Circus. Beyond Babel is their second collaboration with Keone and Mari Madrid, after previously partnering on a genre-defying slasher circus show SLUMBER, which played for multiple seasons in Off-Off Broadway and at the Adelaide Fringe Festival. SLUMBER was described by Time Out NY as “contemporary, sexy and a little bit dangerous.” Their other production credits include The Miss Behave Gameshow now in residency at Bally's Casino in Las Vegas, which was awarded "Best Strip Secret 2018" by Las Vegas Magazine. Josh and Lyndsay also produce the popular and award-nominated Hideaway Podcast featuring news and interviews with industry leaders focused on circus, dance, and theater arts. In 2018, they released the first ever circus and dance show designed specifically to be watched in a virtual reality headset.
London Kaye
CROCHET & SCENIC DESIGN
London Kaye is a street artist based in Brooklyn, New York and Los Angeles, CA. Her unique use of crochet to create art pieces made entirely of yarn has attracted the attention of major media outlets, globally recognized brands, and an engaged following on social media. Stories on Kaye and her work have been featured in The New York Times, CBS This Morning, The Huffington Post, Buzzfeed and Elle. She has adorned the windows of ABC Carpet and Home and has recently crocheted pieces for major brands including Red Valentino, Starbucks, Miller Lite, Chex Mix, The Gap, and the TBS Network. According to Condé Nast Traveller, “London Kaye is the one to watch.” Still to this day, and true to her street art roots, most of her pieces are hung on fences in public places. Her work have been spotted on city streets ranging from New York to Venice Beach and Rome to Mexico City.
JEFF CROITER & SEAN BEACH
LIGHTING DESIGN
Jeff Croiter is a New York based lighting designer with over 25- years of experience working on Broadway, Off-Broadway, dance, opera, special events, regional theatre and touring productions. Jeff has received Tony, Hewes, and Bass awards and has been nominated for Drama Desk, Outer Critics, Lortel, Ovation, Irne, and Audelco awards. Broadway credits include Bandstand, Falsettos, Something Rotten, Holiday Inn, Newsies, Peter and the Starcatcher, Penn & Teller, Disaster, Next Fall, Mothers and Sons, The Pee-wee Herman Show, Kiki and Herb, A Time to Kill, Soul Doctor, Jekyll and Hyde, The Performers, and The Anarchist. He designed the lighting for Penn and Teller at the Rio in Las Vegas and The Big Apple Circus at Lincoln Center. His work has been seen at New York theatres including The Roundabout, Manhattan Theatre Club, Shakespeare in the Park, Signature Theatre, Second Stage, The Public Theatre, The New Group, Playwrights Horizons, The Atlantic, The Vineyard, Primary Stages, Ars Nova, MCC, Carnegie Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, New World Stages, The Westside Theatre, and The Joyce Theatre.
Sean Beach is a lighting designer, programmer, photographer, and filmmaker. His most notable design is the theatrical/concert lighting for Universal Studios’ hit film Pitch Perfect. Sean has worked extensively as an assistant designer and moving light programmer on dozens of Broadway musicals and plays including Frozen, Aladdin, A Bronx Tale, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Gigi, Once, Rock of Ages, How To Succeed…, Motown, Million Dollar Quartet, Allegiance, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, and The Crucible as well as the US/International tours of Spongebob!, Mary Poppins, The Addams Family, Beauty and the Beast, South Pacific, and Finding Neverland. Barbara ERIN Delo
COSTUME DESIGN
Barbara Erin Delo is a Costume Designer and Artisan working in dance, theatre and opera. A New York native, she has previously designed costumes for Williamstown Theatre Company, Theatre at St Clements (The Bigot, Off Broadway premier), Martha Graham Dance Company, The Flea, Castillo Theatre, Parsons Dance Company, Megan Williams Dance Projects, Capital Repertory Theatre, Battery Dance Company, NYC Fringe Festival, Chain Theatre Company, Third Rail Productions as well as many other NY and regional theatres. She studied costume design at SUNY Binghamton and NYU Tisch.
